Originally from London, Dean has a Bachelors degree in Chinese from the University of Westminster, and a Masters degree in Area Studies (Southeast Asia) from London University's School of Oriental and African Studies.
He spent five years as the US correspondent for a UK finance publication and has lived and worked as a professional writer in California and Shanghai. He is currently based in Israel.
